Have you ever visited any park where birds stand and pose with you? Have you ever seen any aquarium with sea creatures moving over and around you? Have you ever visited any building that falls into the top ten tallest categories in the world?

Don’t worry if you are yet to experience or haven’t experienced the aforesaid questions. In this blog, we will be slowly unfolding all the answers through another amazing visit to the famous and thrilling attractions of Kuala Lumpur.

In case you don’t know who we are………..

We call ourselves Travel Freaks……..

Let’s begin with a quick recap. We arrived in Kuala Lumpur two days ago and have visited a few of the local attractions, including the famous Batu Caves and Genting Highlands. In case you haven’t read about it, read it here.

Let’s begin this blog by unfolding the answer to the first question that we asked. Hope you got it.

Yes, we were visiting the famous KL Bird Park after two fantastic days.

Seeing the name of the bird park, you might be eager about………

1. What is unique about Kuala Lumpur’s KL Bird Park compared to other parks?

This can’t be wholly explained until you come and experience the same. For us, it was an experience of a lifetime.

Coming back to our story. Being curious souls, we were so excited that we got ready much before our scheduled departure of 9 o’clock. We had bread, butter, and jam with some delicious cakes we purchased the day before. We quickly booked a cab through Grab and left for the bird park, which took hardly half an hour to reach.

It was about 9.30 when we got down from the car. The park opens at 10 o’clock in the morning. We waited patiently as we already had our tickets booked. Click here to book your tickets online. The ticket price was 85 MYR(Malaysian Ringgit) per person.

Soon, the counter opened sharp at ten o’clock and we showed them our online voucher. In return, they gave us a band we needed to wear inside the bird park.

Finally, we entered the park through two cagetype doors.

The best part was they gave us a map; otherwise, it would be confusing which way to go, given the park’s vastness. The park was divided into several zones based on the location of the bird species. We started by randomly choosing one direction.

As we started exploring the place, we were over the moon to see various species of birds walking in front of us, sometimes posing for photographs. Of course, it all depends on their mood, haha :).

We recommend our readers to stroll and speak softly, or you might scare the birds. Even we were doing the same.

The best part was that we arrived in the early hours of the day, and very few visitors were there back then. Suddenly, we noticed the famous hornbill sitting atop a cage. Sometimes, it was difficult to recognise the voices of the birds that we could hear.

Flamingos were very common in the KL Bird Park. We spotted Owls, various species of Parrots, Mynas, Peafowls, etc., to name a few. Many birds were there; unfortunately, we didn’t even know the names.

A section in the park was where leaves were kept to feed the Ostriches through a window. It was a thrilling experience for us. You will need to pay if you want to click pictures with the birds sitting atop your shoulder and head.

Another section had Parrots sitting on a wooden stand and a trainer was there. You can feed them milk. As we paid for this activity, the birds sat on our hands and body to drink the milk from the small container. It was a fantastic experience for us.

After spending over two hours, we were eager to see the bird show. There was a cafeteria and a souvenir shop within the park. We sat there wholly immersed in the park’s beauty and ordered snacks with a cup of coffee as there was an hour left for the bird show.

After spending around half an hour in the cafeteria, we hurriedly moved towards the bird show area to get a good seat. Soon, the show started and we saw some fantastic performances by the birds, including identifying objects, making sounds and carrying out tasks. All of us were awestruck.

We hope you understand how different KL Bird Park is from the rest of the parks. We wished to spend a little bit more time. However, we had to go to the next destination of the day.

Now, we will unfold the answer to the second question we asked. Yes, we were now moving to the aquarium, KLCC Aquaria.

You might now want to know……

2. How was the experience of the KLCC Aquaria?

After a unique experience at the KL Bird Park, we booked a cab and headed for the KLCC Aquaria, which was hardly a 20-minute ride. It was close to 1:30 PM; we hurriedly went to the ticket counter to show our online booked tickets. Click here to book online tickets. The ticket price was 75 MYR per person.

The staff scanned the tickets and we entered. It felt like we entered a different underwater world where various species of aquatic animals were there.

There were many sections, and as you move on, you will see numerous aquatic animals. Aquatic animals were in open tanks in a few places, including Sea Horses, Starfish, and other marine invertebrates.

In the next section, closed tanks displayed some unique species of reptiles and amphibians. Yeah, we did notice some unique species of Crabs, Eels and Lobsters in the marine ecosystem. It was something we hadn’t experienced in the past. Many of the fish species we didn’t know or even heard of.

In the last portion of the aquaria, we saw something we had been eagerly waiting for since the beginning of the day—the area of the sharks. We passed through a glass tunnel where sharks were moving around us, and felt like we were getting teleported to an underwater world. It was a thrilling experience for us. Visitors can also get inside the water tank to get snaps with the sharks. We kept this activity parked for our next visit.

It was already 3 o’clock in the afternoon and we were starving. Exiting the Aquaria, we reached KLCC Suria Mall as the Aquaria was located inside the mall itself. We headed to the food court and ordered the famous Nasi Lemak of Kuala Lumpur and ice creams as desserts. The lunch was fab.

Wait, don’t think we are done with Kuala Lumpur; as we finished our lunch, it was time to visit one of the top 10 tallest buildings in the world

3. How was the experience at Petronas Twin Tower?

We were on cloud nine as we were about to reach our most awaited destination of the day. As we reached the entrance of the Petronas, it started raining. We got a bit upset with the rain but that was beyond our control.

We moved to the ticket counter area and showed the tickets. Also, we booked online. Click here to choose from the different ticket categories. The ticket cost us around 98 MYR per person.

Visitors are supposed to leave the backpacks at their counters. Just before entering the elevator area, they took snaps and as we reached the 86 Floor, they presented us with those pics in a nice album with Petronas as background. The souvenir was looking nice and we decided to buy it. The Twin Tower had 88 storeys, amongst which visitors were allowed to 86 Floor only.

As you go up floor by floor, you would experience intense pressure and blockage in your ears for some time.

One of their staff will be accompanying you throughout the entire visit and they will explain about the different sections of the tower. There was an air bridge connecting the two towers between the floors 41 and 42.

We spent some time there taking snaps. However, it was raining, so the view wasn’t that clear. As our allotted time was finished, staff asked the entire batch to get to the elevator. Other groups were also reaching and it was getting crowded in that area.

It was around 5 PM and we left with some time, so we thought of visiting Merdeka Square. We booked a Grab ride to reach to the place. It was around 4-5 km, which took us 15 minutes to reach.

Merdeka Square is a symbol of National pride since Malaysia gained independence in 1957. We strolled around the area, clicked a few snaps, and then returned to Little India for dinner.

If you have a few more days in Kuala Lumpur, you can plan for Langkawi Island. Depending on your budget and schedule, you can opt for a flight, bus or train to reach this island. There are many activities available that you will enjoy a lot.

After having our dinner at Little India, we took the monorail ride to reach our stay at Bukit Bintang. As it was our last day in Kuala Lumpur, we spent some memorable time listening to street music. All the performing artists were terrific, making the evening something to cherish for a long time. We sat there for close to an hour before heading towards our stay.

On the way back to our stay, we took a different lane named Jalan Alor, where we were amazed to see the variety of street foods. As we were already full, we only tried the famous national fruit of Malaysia, “Durian”. It has a strong, pungent smell, so most hotels have banned this fruit from being carried along. You can either try raw fruit or in the form of cookies, chocolates, cakes, etc.

Finally, we reached our stay at around ten o’clock at night. We had our flight the next day afternoon. We had mixed feelings as our trip was about to end. On the one hand, we were so happy after having such a memorable trip; on the other hand, we were sad as we were about to return the next day.

We booked a cab the following morning and departed from our stay at 7 o’clock to KL Sentral. From there, we had our bus to the airport for our return journey.
