In case you don’t know who we are………..
We call ourselves Travel Freaks……..
You might be unaware of the fact that…….
1. How to reach Mallikarjuna Srisailam?
Mallikarjuna Srisailam is approximately 210 km from the capital city of Hyderabad. It is around 4-5 hrs drive from Hyderabad. You can easily plan for a day trip like us. There are various buses and taxis you can opt to visit this place. You can check out the available options at Abhibus, Redbus or online taxis/cabs.
We took an early morning bus at 5:30 AM from Hyderabad and reached Srisailam around 11 AM. The bus journey was comfortable. On the way, the bus stopped for a refreshment break. We had idli for breakfast.
2. How can you plan for Temple Darshan?
After reaching there, we enquired about the temple darshan queue. Entrance is free but if you wish to go with any unique offerings or in VIP darshan (fast-paced darshan queue), you can check out their official website.
It was around 11:40 AM when we stood in the queue. The arrangements at the temple were good and up to the mark. The line was gradually moving. This temple premises had one of the best arrangements we have ever seen. There was no pushing to the devotees. Everyone had a great darshan. It felt so calm and serene getting a glimpse of Lord Shiva. Devotees have come from various corners of the country.
It was close to 2 PM when we came out. While walking to the exit area, people distributed Prasadam (food offered to the deity during worship). It had laddu (sweet), pulihora (traditional tamarind rice), and other South Indian sweets and dishes. It is believed that lucky people get this prasadam, and the cherry on the cake was the pulihora was yummy :).
3. Should you take a day trip or stay there?
It totally depends on you. As we mentioned here, we took a day trip. If you wish, you can stay overnight. Various stay options are available near temple premises, which you can book online or physically after reaching there.
4. What all food options can you get nearby?
Unfortunately, as we kept our phones in our locker before entering the temple premises, we do not have any pictures. After coming out of the temple premises, we decided to have lunch. We went to a nearby local restaurant. After glancing at their menu, we ordered Thali with rice, different vegetable curries, rasam, pickles and buttermilk. It was good but a bit spicy.
5. How was the return journey?
By the time we finished our lunch, it was around 3:30 PM. We had our return bus around 5:30 PM. The bus station was nearby, so we took a walk there. We waited a few hours, and by 5 o’clock, the conductor came and started checking passenger tickets to let them in. We also got our tickets scanned and boarded the bus. Being tired, we all rested while admiring the scenic views during the bus journey. On the return journey, the bus made a quick stop for refreshment. It was around 11 PM when we reached the outskirts of Hyderabad.
