In case you don’t know who we are…….

We call ourselves Travel Freaks……

After a fantastic time in the Andaman Islands, especially after returning from Diglipur the previous day, we were still in awe of what we had witnessed till then. If you are yet to read our previous blogs, do read it. It will help you plan your itinerary.

Returning to our story, for the first time we woke by 8 a.m., and got ready by 9 o’clock. If you ask about our stay, it was the same as the one we have already mentioned in our first blog, in the Jungli Ghat Road. Our manager again helped us with a cab for the day trip. It was a hassle-free booking for us. Then we started with the day trip. The first place on the list was……

1. Anthropological Museum

Honestly speaking, very few museums on earth have witnessed both culture and art at the same time. This was one such place. It was hardly 15 minutes from our stay and we reached by around 10 AM. There was small entry fee of 10 INR per person. The operating hours was from 09:00 AM to 01.00 PM and from 01.30 PM to 04.30 PM.

On entering, we saw some diverse collection of exhibits showcasing the various indigenous tribes of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. We saw many traditional weapons, tools, and utensils used by them. It reflected that they are quite aware of the science and technology behind manufacturing of those equipment.

There were photographs that highlighted the daily lives and rituals of the tribes, providing a visual narrative of their unique customs. In fact audio visual presentations were also there providing a deeper understanding. We were totally stunned to see the large number of tribes existing on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. There was a souvenir shop within the museum.

After an amazing one hour we headed to the next spot…….

2. Naval Marine Museum Samudrika

Another 10-minute ride and we were in front of the Naval Marine Museum. There was an entry fee of 50 INR per person. Monday is officially closed. We reached by close to 12:30 PM. As the name suggests, this museum is controlled by the Indian Navy.

There was a large skeleton of a prehistoric aquatic animal at the entry. There were many rooms and as we started exploring, we found a rich collection of exhibits highlighting the marine biodiversity of the Andaman Sea.

Just like in the Anthropological Museum, we saw a wide variety of artefacts showcasing the indigenous tribes and their culture. Yes, there was a section where we saw the naval history of the Andaman Region.

There was a room where we accessed the geographical information about the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. A few aquarium rooms were there displaying live marine specimens. Last but not the least, a souvenir shop was also there.

It was another fabulous one hour. We were hungry by then and headed for lunch at a local nearby restaurant. We must say, there were a variety of seafood options available in Port Blair.

By 2:30 PM, we continued our journey to our next destination……

3. Ramkrishna Mission, Port Blair

This was not supposed to be on our list. However, as we love meditation and have always been a follower of Swami Vivekananda, we could not resist dropping a visit to this serene place. It was a 10-minute drive from our lunch place.

There was a small book stall at the entry and we could see many followers sitting in the temple premises and deeply immersed in meditation.

We were really lucky to taste prasadam that one of the monks was distributing. After about 45 minutes we hopped into our and continued our journey to the next destination on our list…….

4. Corbyn’s Cove Beach

This beach is located at a 15-minute drive from the Ramakrishna Mission. There were little to no visitors when we arrived there. As we started walking, we saw on the left-hand side, there was a specified place for water sports activities that included jet skiing, banana boat rides, and speed boating. Even though we are adventure enthusiasts. However, the relaxing atmosphere made us unwind ourselves on the beach.

We really loved how the shoreline was adorned with coconut and casuarina trees. We came to know that travellers mostly arrive at dusk to view the sunset. We had different plans though as we had planned to enjoy the sunset at……….

5. Chidhiya Tapu

It was around a 40-minute drive from Corbyn’s Cove Beach. So when we reached Chidhiya Tapu, it was close to 5 o’clock in the evening. There were already many vehicles parked.

As the name suggests in Hindi, the area is a heaven for bird watchers. Migratory birds were also there. Some of the famous include parakeets, sea eagles and the famous Andaman Cuckoo Dove.

You can also opt to trek for Munda Pahar Beach, travellers generally opt to visit the secluded stretch of shoreline to experience serenity. The sunset view was amazing. There was a children park where kids could enjoy. The area also has a population of saltwater crocodiles. We could spot one from a distance.

We stayed there till 6 o’clock and then we decided to return to our stay and complete our packing as we had an early morning flight from Port Blair.

Now that we end our journey in Port Blair, you might want to know…….
