It was another weekend around the corner, with a different plan this time around. We thought of visiting one of the gems of Madhya Pradesh. It was the famous Kanha National Park.

1. Where is Kanha National Park?
It is located in the Maikal hills of the Saputara region and is the largest national park in Madhya Pradesh.
It’s divided into two sanctuaries: Hallon and Banjar.
The next obvious question……
2. How to reach Kanha National Park?
We booked a car from Jabalpur to Kanha. The distance is around 125 km, and it took us around 3.5 hours to reach Kanha.
There are many ways one can opt to reach Kanha. Nearest railway stations are Jabalpur (4 hours) and Gondia (3 hours). Also, you could reach via road.
We reached Kanha Kisli at around 9 PM. There were various stay options you could find in the area.
As we got out of the car, hotel staff came for sanitization; then we headed for check-in. The resort was beautiful amidst nature, and the lights during the nighttime added to the beauty.
One of the hotel staff accompanied us to our room. We loved the stay. While checking in, we ordered our dinner.
After resting for some time, we went to the dining area. It was an open dining area. We enjoyed our meal and, at the same time, were immersed in the beauty of the place. After dinner, it was pretty late that day, so we all went to sleep.
Now that we have arrived at our stay, the next question might be…….
3. How was the safari experience?
The following day, we started early as our safari was booked in the morning hours. You could check the website for safari tickets, availability, timing, price, etc.
We got our breakfast packed to have it on the go. Our jeep was waiting outside the resort. As soon as we reached the park entrance, we saw many vehicles were already waiting for the park to open.
As soon as the gate opened, our jeep entered, and we were excited as always, but this time for the safari.
Park is divided into regions like Kanha, Kisli, Mukki and Sarahi. You could choose to visit anyone for the safari as per availability.
You could also spot Hard Ground Barasingha – the State Animal of Madhya Pradesh. As we started with the safari in the morning hours, the temperature was pleasant.
We spotted various birds and animals such as Deer, Fox, Barasingha (swamp deer), etc. Kanha is a Tiger Reserve, but unfortunately, we couldn’t spot one.
Our driver mentioned and showed us the Tiger paw footprints. Also, he mentioned that a few groups of visitors spotted the Tiger a couple of hours ago.
Tip: If you have time, you could do multiple safaris and try your luck for spotting a Tiger. 😊
After completing the safari trip, we returned to the resort. It was already around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, so we had our lunch.
In the evening, we started our return journey.
